“HARRY Potter author JK Rowling has revealed she once intended to kill off one of the main characters in the final novel.”
In an exclusive chat, the writer tells Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe that Ron Weasley was initially set for the chopping block.
However, after a change of heart Ron — played by flame-haired Rupert Grint — survived.
Rowling said: “I planned from the start that none of them would die and then mid-way through — which I think was a reflection of the fact that I wasn’t in a very happy place — I started thinking I might polish one of them off out of sheer spite.”
And she added: “I did seriously consider killing Ron.”
The creator of the boy wizard, behind eight movies and seven books, also said she was relieved she could spill the beans now that filming was over.
Her chat with 22-year-old Radcliffe, who played Harry since the first film in 2001, came ahead of the DVD release of the final instalment.
